This post presents a popular science and consumer audience perspective, avoiding overly technical jargon while providing data-backed insights and examples. It focuses on Key AI agent innovations, including at least 10 major open-source frameworks and proprietary advancements. The latest robotic platforms integrate AI-driven decision-making and LLMs, emphasizing Google's contributions. How AI agents are displaying autonomous decision-making and multi-step reasoning in real-world applications. There is competition between open-source AI frameworks (LangChain, AutoGPT, Manifold, etc.) and enterprise solutions from major tech companies. Google's latest AI and robotics contributions. The broader implications of AI agents becoming more capable and autonomous. 2025 marks a tipping point in the convergence of AI agents and robotics. Over the past year, we’ve seen an explosion of autonomous AI “agents” – software powered by large language models (LLMs) that can make decisions and tak...

Week 6: Professional Agency versus One Guy and an AI

I was invited to kick off the McCoy College of Business 2025 Fall Semester faculty assembly.  I made a video to help illustrate the disruptive economic impact and reduced cycle times of a creative activity.  Here's the video to demonstrate the point and the Gemini estimates of production of me with AI versus a professional agency putting together a 20-second clip:  Let's break down the estimated costs of producing this video with a traditional small-to-mid-sized creative agency, particularly in a market like Austin or Central Texas. At-a-Glance Estimate A professional agency would likely quote a project of this scope and quality in the range of $15,000 to $35,000 . The final price depends heavily on the agency's size, the crew's experience, and the specific equipment used. Here is a detailed breakdown of where those costs come from. Detailed Cost Breakdown (Agency Model) Phase 1: Pre-Production & Creative (Est: $2,500 - $5,500) This is the planning and scriptin...

The NVIDIA AI Obsolescence Matrix (2011–2030)

There used to be a standard recipe for managing a data center. You bought high-quality components, established a 5-to-7-year depreciation cycle, and let the assets steadily produce value. Hardware obsolescence was due to physical wear-and-tear or to software driver abandonment. That recipe is now toxic. The explosion of generative AI has fundamentally redefined what it means for infrastructure to be "obsolete." If you are managing your GPU fleet on a standard IT lifecycle, your expense stream is likely misaligned with the market's economic reality. You are, quite literally, holding onto an asset that is costing you money simply by being turned on. We have mapped the specific, 20-year trajectory of NVIDIA enterprise GPUs—from the Fermi architecture that powered early CUDA development to the projected Feynman architecture that will introduce optical computing. The result is a startling visualization of Front-Loaded Obsolescence. The Metric of the New Era: Your asset is obs...
