The China Threat
According to FBI Director Christopher Wray, “The greatest long-term threat to our nation’s information and intellectual property, and to our economic vitality, is the counterintelligence and economic espionage threat from China.” Chinese counterintelligence and economic espionage efforts pose a grave threat to the economic well-being and democratic values of the United States. The FBI's top counterintelligence priority is to combat this threat. Chinese people and people of Chinese descent or heritage are not adversaries of the United States people or government. The threat comes from the authoritarian policies and programs of the CCP. The Chinese government employs tactics to influence lawmakers and public opinion to achieve more favorable policies for China.
