China Makes AI Education Mandatory for All Children: A Glimpse into the Future
Starting in September 2025, China will mandate artificial intelligence (AI) education for all primary and secondary school students, including children as young as six. Under this sweeping new policy, every student will receive at least eight hours of AI instruction annually. According to a report released at the 2nd Chinese Human Robot and Embodied Intelligence Industry Conference in Beijing, China's humanoid robot market is projected to reach 8.239 billion yuan (approximately 1.12 billion US dollars) in 2025, capturing nearly 50 percent of the global market share.

The report also forecasts that China's embodied intelligence market will grow to 5.295 billion yuan in 2025, accounting for around 27 percent of the global total. Embodied intelligence, encompassing technologies that enable machines to interact with the physical world in human-like ways, is becoming a strategic frontier in international technological innovation.
Industry Trends and Drivers
Since 2024, the humanoid robot industry has exhibited continuous technological advancement and innovation, steady market expansion, diversification of application scenarios, increased policy support and capital investment, and strengthened international cooperation and exchanges.
The global embodied intelligence market is projected to grow to 19.525 billion yuan in 2025 and surge to 232.63 billion yuan by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of 64.18 percent. In the short term, automation and manufacturing are expected to be the main drivers, followed by healthcare and logistics.
Strategic Recommendations
The report suggests that China should leverage its vast domestic market to overcome technological bottlenecks, strengthen self-reliant supply chains, and accelerate deployment across diverse scenarios. By doing so, China could shift from a partial leader to a global frontrunner in the humanoid robotics and embodied intelligence sectors.
