JACQUES F. ROUGEAU, JR.

Trooper Jay Rougeau was shot and killed by a wanted man near Swamp Road and Baumgardner Drive in Walker Township shortly after 3:00 pm.


At 12:45 pm, the subject had entered the parking lot of the Pennsylvania State Police's Lewistown Barracks and opened up on troopers, wounding a State Police lieutenant. During the subsequent search, Trooper Rougeau located the subject in a wooded area, and the two exchanged gunfire. Trooper Rougeau and the man were both killed in the shootout.
