Deputy Sheriff Caleb Conley was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop near mile marker 127 on southbound I-75 in Georgetown at about 4:45 pm.

The subject fled the scene but was arrested a short time later. He has been charged with the murder of a police officer, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, burglary, theft of an automobile, wanton endangerment, and fleeing/evading police.

Deputy Conley was a U.S. Army veteran who served with the Scott County Sheriff's Office for four years. He is survived by his wife, children, and parents.
